Some ppl donate and hope to win something.
For NKF, they give out 1 m of Prizes but get back 10 mil of donations.
Maybe pay out 1 more mil for the services/expenses of the show.
8 mil left. Perhasp about 60% go to their operational cost of NKF.
The rest will be used to support perhaps about 1000-200 patients.
And the patients are only subsidised if I am not wrong (Not sure if true. Was told Kidney one). They still have to pay something.
after the last fisaco on the papers about these corporate types running the org, having a big account and wasting the cash cause there is no governance/BOD/reporting needed to any shareholders. For me to give money to them, even if I can afford it, is supporting manner NKF is raising money and giving money for the corporate folks in there to line their own pockets. I would not be surprised if they diversify into investments/banking since they had so much cash.
I rather give to other organizations. ie:SPCA, Spastic Children, Renci and everything else but Never NKF. -

I support Ren Ci too but because they oso started having these types of charity shows so I kinda jaded lah... I do prefer to write Ren Ci a cheque and send it straight to their office...
For this reason, I support SPCA more vigourously now as I took Ren Ci out of the equation..... -
Yeah I setup giro for SPCA. I hope they can find some cheap and larger space for the animals because they had to euthanise so many animals daily. Its sad that locals treat animals so like toys to be played with and throw away. My dad picked up pedegree cats (kitten at that time) because people abandoned it. Renci only do once a year. Not so bad. Although I find it kinda commercialised but I've seen their hospice and such. NKF is literally in everyone's face, from TV shows and donation drives, to brochers, Saturday flag selling, mailers and everything else. NKF is so commercial but the number of people they assist is quite limited. Frankly I wonder what is the President Charity doing also. Every 2-3 months got one charity show. Every night see TV, NKF got those weepy shows to emotional blackmail people into giving. Worse is that the old folks watch these shows started to get damn paranoid about their health.

why compare SPCA to NKF?
donate some to cancer society if you dont want to donate to NKF. it is nice to help SPCA too but more should be done for humans. -
I agree we should donate to the Singapore Cancer Society instead of the NKF
Since we humans, esp those in Singapore, cause untold suffering and misery to defenceless animals, we should do more to help them lah. I think mistyblue was just trying to highlight the plight of these animals, lost and neglected admist all the glitz and gala from the NKF and President's Charity.
