GPS, you dont have to subscribe.You only need to buy a receiver and you are ready to go.

u mean a personal GPS system or one for your car??
read tat GPS for cars is $400, comes wif a map of SG and JB, installs in less then 10 secs...donno if true or not

I'm not sure if GPS receivers are practical in Singapore. On one of my recent visits, I brought along my ancient-but-trusty Magellan GPS 315 handheld GPS receiver and found that satellite reception was severely hampered by the plethora of tall buildings on the island. The GPS receivers installed in automobiles might benefit from larger and more sensitive antennae, so reception might not be an issue with those units.
However, I am compelled to ask: why would anyone require a GPS to get around in Singapore?
Here's an image of my trusty GPS 315:
The readout shows Bugis Junction to be 9082 miles away at a "great circle" bearing of 337° (I captured a waypoint fix when I was there some years back with the receiver).

In Singapore not very useful, too many trees blocking the signal.
The map is not updated, East Coast in the map is in the sea.
There isn't a detail drawing of road.
Don't buy this model. try to get a set comes with Singapore Map.
Best if comes with Malaysia Map.

Get something like KingMap or TomTom GO.They are very updated maps for driving in Singapore,and the software comes with 3D plots and landmarks.
There are GPS SDIO cards available..if I'm not wrong..

Yup! I've participated in a number of cache hunts around Minnesota and in neighbouring Wisconsin. The most challenging hunt thus far was finding a stash that was located in a tree knot... on a sandbar in the middle of the St. Croix River! Apparently, the sport of geocaching is also alive and well in Singapore, according to this entry on the Geocaching website. Has anyone here participated in a cache hunt in Singapore?
