For the different churches, here's how (in lamen's terms) it breaks down.
Church--> Broken into: The Roman Catholic Church and Protestant Church. (Read up on Martin Luther for the reason there are two)
Protestant Church: Broken into--> Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Weslyan, Baptist, etc.
Each denomination has different beliefs and traditions but with pretty much similar core beliefs/values. Reasons are due to the environment, geography, and founder of the denomination.
The Mormons, Adventists, Jehovah Witness, etc are sometimes not considered mainstream because their teachings are essentially different even though Jesus is mentioned.
Yes, there are arguements between religions, denominations, even within a single church. Remember these are human beings afterall. People tend to put blinders on when it comes to things concerning them. No one's perfect no matter who they believe or worship. But that doesn't make what is taught useless. People are just being people when they don't act on what they're taught.
So why pick one over the other? Faith, I guess. As a Christian, I believe whatever is taught in the Bible rather than the Torah or the Quaran because I find that it makes more sense to me and it's the least religious* of all the religions. I would also tell someone to give it a chance instead of just brushing it off. Other than this last part, I'm not really promoting anything. Neither am I arguing how one is better than the other. Down to it, it's still has to do with personal choice.
*Meaning it's has less rituals. -

If the New testament is written after Jesus was crucified, who was it revealed to? Jesus disciple? I mean who is the person? a messenger ? a Prophet? why wud Jesus follower follow something which is not taught by Jesus himself?

One sentence : It's a shame to see Christians arguing over religious issues with one another, when all of them belong to God.
Should an outsider like me step in and discuss it with the Pope, abolish all the different sects of Christianity, each marketing their own brand of services and products, and group them all into one REAL church?
Maybe I should setup my own church called "The Purist" and the denomination should be called "Purism", whereby all Christians set aside all differences, get a life and pray to God and Jesus. No other founders of Christianity, no ranks of Bishop and Cardinals(for what? for rank and power?). -

It wasn't revealed. The 4 Gospel; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were discples and people who were 'hanging' with Jesus. They are different accounts of what happened in Jesus' life thru the eyes of the writer. There is only one Founder of Christianity. Actually, most Protestant churches do put away their denominational differences aside and do non-denominational events. Campus Crusade for Christ is one such organisation. Still it has it's own set of codes and beliefs. Anyways, Jesus never said he brought peace. "Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? The Pope can't abolish all the different "sects", he doesn't have authority over anyone but the Roman Catholic Church.

there is nothing wrong with having different denominations as long as they all believe in GOD and do not divert from the true teachings of christianity.
you have to know its history. the first Bible was consolidated and known as the Kings James version.
everything used to be written on scrolls. and re-written over and over for distribution. there are bound to be mistakes and differences. different denominations arose at different geographic locations. they adopted different practices and beliefs. -

Someone once told me to accept the New Testament is to accept the Old Testament. You can't pick and choose which to follow. So I guess for a christain he/she gotta believe in both Old and New Testament.
Old Testament is so filled with stuff like Adam n Eve, Ibrahim, Tower of Baal etc stuff that make it sounds like a fairy tale story. Good for bedtime story for the kids but it just didn't cut a point when one grows up and become more logical and sensible as an adult. -

e.g. there was a time of dark ages during the judges, the jews didn't have a king and order was mainly dependant on local village and town chiefs and leaders.

Do you subscribe to the idea that there is only Adam n Eve and they copulate to create population after them? Or there are other humans ard together when Adam n Eve exist? Do they have a mass orgy festival to reproduce current breed of different races and tribes?
Above just one point that seem to thrive well in fairy tale story but not logically and sensibly IMHO. -

since it has been interpreted differently by so many people ,thus forming many churches, just dont take it at the face value
