A lot of the singers who took part in the event went to africa to experience the poverty that existed there. The live aid concert twenty years ago saved some african children from dying, they appeared on stage with bob geldof.Originally posted by asshole888:i applaud the singers who bothered to take part in such events, but how much do they really know about the living conditions in the african countries? some of them are earning $1 a day and these people do deserve some help from us but has anyone wondered how much of those financial aid really reach the poor and needy, very very very little.
the corruption within government officials are the root and cause of wide spread poverty in such countries. cancellation of debts and fundings from the G8 more often than not never reach the intended party. the rich basically gets richer and the poor? well, just as poor.
such live8 events thou commendable, are viewed by people residing in these countries as an elaborate show staged for the world to gain awareness for G8 but when all the hoo ha has ended, nothing much has been changed.
