How do Dwarves and elves reproduce?

Well, elves and dwarves are humanoid, so they reproduce normally. How centaurs reproduce is even more interesting, since there aren't any female species mentioned.

i remember gimli in return of the king (the movie not the book. i know that the book did not contain that phrase) joked to that most people thought that female dwarves did not exist, and males dwarves just popped up from the ground

Read the appendix at the end of LOTR. The histpry of the dwarves is contained in there. and then TOlkien changed elves to the beautiful ppl with pointy ears and almond shaped eyes, and dwarves to the muscular ppl with beards. and then a lot of fantasy followed that format. -
