Which country?? Dun tell me the western countries pls as they r ang moh. None of the South East Asia countries treat English as their first langauge only Singapore. For Asia, China, taiwan, japan korea, hong kong all emphasize learning their own langauge first...Originally posted by daphne_1802:englishc cannnot be considered a foreign language as almost everybody in every single country takes up english as thier first language and it definately sounds more high class than certain languages. .

My grandparents came from Indonesia, but our family speak Cantonese as a spoken dialect at home in Singapore. I can speak well in Cantonese, and enjoy and prefer speaking to anyone who understand the language, instead of English or Mandrain, although I can communicate well in all three of them . .Originally posted by daphne_1802:how can i have forgotten my root? none of my known family members come from the hokien province although my dad speaks it.

English is not a foreign language?? you've wasted all your years of education by not knowing this simple fact... unless you're telling me that you're an english, and your ancestors speaks it....Originally posted by daphne_1802:englishc cannnot be considered a foreign language as almost everybody in every single country takes up english as thier first language and it definately sounds more high class than certain languages. i really dont mind not having the fish ball noodles as i dont fancy food like that. why go to a hawker centre if there are food courts that are air-conditioned and more hygenic? and even so, the food is so expensive i rather add in a dollar or so to go to a fast food restaurant where its so much better.
