  Start by saying..." hey have you seen yesterday's *** vs. *** soccer match?" then talk about what happened in the match e.g who got red card blah blah... Or if you play games, start by saying "ay, i heard you got ps2/xbox/gamecube, have you heard of this great game?" If he has the game, discuss and talk about how far into the game you both are in. He probably would say "you know how to do this and get that special item in the game or not?" and the conversation goes on and on. If he goes to lan games then join them for gaming sessions. I must say, gaming sessions are great for socialising.
