Mr Durai himself seemed calm and composed. Dressed in a cream-coloured long-sleeved shirt, he told the press after the trial that he decided to pursue the case because he and NKF felt the ST article didn't speak the truth.

As to what was revealed in yesterday's proceedings, he said: 'I think the public is quite aware of what is happening. NKF's track record will speak for itself.'
What records? Did they publish their account book?
Mr Durai, who has been with the NKF for 37 years, also said he wouldn't resign 'unless people want me to'.
'people' refers to us, or those board of directors who are carrying his balls
SPH issued a statement last night: 'We are glad Mr Durai and the NKF have withdrawn the suit and have now acknowledged that the article in question was accurate and fair. SPH and The Straits Times have had to defend themselves vigorously to protect the integrity of the newspaper and its duty to raise issues of legitimate public interest.'
Because of the huge turnout yesterday - two out of three Singaporeans are understood to be NKF donors - there had been arrangements to move to a larger courtroom today if the hearing had continued.
But this is not to be, given the turn of events yesterday.

Durai: I can only say it was a design put up and it was what it was and it was functionally used in that manner. It was not something which I deliberately did to prevent people from coming in.
