Frankly...I am damn pissed off with his testimony...$1.8 million dollars can save how many lives man.. and he paid himself these amount of money. I hope he sleeps at night.

And first to take the stand was the NKF's CEO, TT Durai who made some startling revelations during cross examination by SPH's Senior Counsel Davinder Singh.
The article in question was written by SPH's journalist Susan Long whom NKF is also suing.
It had an account of a contractor who had been hired to install some bathroom fittings for its new headquarters in 1995.
NKF says the article had many falsehoods and half truths. But Monday's hearing was more than just about toilet fittings.
It was a public scrutiny of how the NKF is administered and run, the travel patterns of its senior executives and the chief executive officer, and what salaries were paid to the CEO in the last three years.
The court heard that CEO Durai got a twelve month bonus last year. And between 2002 and 2004, he would have earned close to S$1.8 million.
From the outset, Senior Counsel Davinder Singh who is acting for SPH, emphasized the importance of transparency and public accountability on NKF's part as every cent which NKF spent came from public donations.
Several senior officials from NKF were in court to follow the proceedings, including its patron Mrs Goh Chok Tong.

It was just the first day of the trial, i believe we gonna hear more about the other directors, management team players and even the lowest level staff in the organisation, such as the cleaning aunties will testify that they are all also been given 12 months bonus too last year.... *hand on my chin*
Lets give the CEO the credit when it is due, surely he MUST have given every single employees in the organisation 12 months bonus at least if not more, given that he is a charitable person with a big generous heart to help the poor by heading such a big CHARITY organisation, what's more they have a high power distinguish personality being their patron within the organisation.
Whatever they do, at least we believe our MIW will definitely defend and support them wan lah. Or else someone is going lose more face than the CEO himself wah!
SPH will sure to lose the case.

it's what corporations do... and they sure are behaving like an unscrupulous one... -

Man..this is outrageous, public money to fund the CEO and maybe all the managerial level at NKF!!! I also heard that the CEO is affiliated to some IT company he directly or indirectly owns, that also explain that the IT jobs in NKF is being "supu" by his accompliances!!!
It will be interesting to watch this case evolve...hope it will be more interesting than CAO cos this is really a local affair!! -
i think TT Durai was accused of inviting himself to a lot of overseas seminars and flying himself and his family 1st class over there with expensive accomodations not too long ago...
not sure what came of that incident.. -

Well, it is better to be late (in realisation) than never at all.
Me long long time ago oredi never support them anymore, better to do charity on myself by keeping money in my own pocket lor.
Now me die die will not donate to them, even if they are the last charity organisation left standing in the whole planet earth. -

today ST huge coverage on this issue Finally justice is done. Eventhough there is a chance NKF may win, but this wide coverage and the info revealed should be enough to let a great many 'formerly-misled-by-NKF' people to rethink their generous donations

Defamation aside, i think this is an opportunity to dig up whatever dirt SPH has on TT Durai. Looking forward to a no-holds barred contest between the 2 sides.
Some people may have forgotten what it means to be a charitable orgaisation. Now they see it as a job with career prospects and a big fat year-end bonus. All this while the patients who need the most are made to endure.
My question to NKF would be: why do you need such a lavish accomodation as your office? It certainly does not improve the efficiency you extend care to your patients. Such money can be better spent elsewhere. -
I feel so happy reading the details of davinder singh's cross examination. One can almost feel the NKF CEO squirming. Lets hope his resignation and suicide will result from this.
