Ant K F WITHDRAWS defamation suit!

NKF CEO T.T Durai has withdrawn his defamation claim against Singapore Press Holdings and its writer Susan Long.
Mr Durai said he would also drop NKF's defamation claim against the two parties.
Speaking to reporters after court was adjourned, Mr Durai said he dropped the case as he did not want to proceed with the matter any further.
Mr Durai said this decision was taken in the best interest of NKF.
Asked by reporters if he would resign, Mr Durai said that he didn't think that this was necessary.
The CEO is expected to appear again in court tomorrow afternoon when the court will decide on the issue of legal costs.

With the pressure coming from the public,
i think he has got no choice
The board of directors is pressuring him
Suing a National newpaper is a decision that went wrong
Its better to close the case
before more 'dirt' is being dug up
If case close, will investigation carries on? -

This turn of events came after NKF CEO TT Durai decided to withdraw both his and NKF's claims against SPH and its journalist Susan Long.
NKF had sued them after an article, reported in the Straits Times in April last year, talked about expensive fittings at its S$21 million building at Kim Keat Road.
Under cross examination by SPH's Senior Counsel Davinder Singh, Mr Durai agreed that the fittings were extravagant for a public charity like the NKF.
During the hearing Tuesday, Mr Durai also told the court that he had not kept NKF informed of several directorships he had assumed while he was its CEO.
Mr Davinder Singh also told the court that the NKF has enough reserves to last it for 30 years, based on the expenses it has incurred for dialysis treatment in 2003.
Mr Singh will address the court on the issue of costs Wednesday.>>

I guess too much dirt has been kicked up thus far. After all, Durai himself admitted that those bathroom fittings were far too extravagant for a public charity.
Now that the suit has been dropped we can't expect to see any more dirt being kicked up. Still, I expect that quite a lot of damage has already been done to NKF. Not a lot of people are going to be very happy to know where their money's been going into. -
