NKF reserves

i understand from the topics posted here that you guys want to take back your donations because NKF has hundreds millions in reserve. it is very understandable that donors are very angry and furious to know that the ceo is earning 600k per annum from a non-profitable organisation.
definitely, few hundreds million are a hell lots of money, if they are owned by an individual. but these money are used for the reserve. what does reserve means? it means that it is a conthingency when there are no more donations. how long can these money last when due to some unforseen circumstances like war happens and there are no more donations? not for long definitely, judging from the rising number of ppl having kidney problem.
my point is, no doubt there are a lot of money for reserve, it is best not to touch them. and how not to touch them? the active account needs to has sufficient amount to help the patients. and the only way to do it is to keep donating.
all the drama on the ceo can be erased by changing a new board, but all the patients shown on tv are real and everlasting. they need your donations to ease their finanical burden. so let this drama be over with the resignation of the ceo, and continue to help the nkf patients. -
Pls lar....they only have 1800 patients...its not like they have 10000 to support....

i agree , but they will have to show me their financial statements , their CEO's entitlements , privileges , salary bonuses and all of their staffs expenses etc.

I think the reserves should not be touched. Those that donated, well... too bad.

Those obsence amount of reserve can last 30 years. 10x of what they claim can last them. Do u know how long is 30 years? -

why r the employees still cheering for him if the public perception is opposite??? or is it just a minority of the employees??? or does that infer that it is more ??? -

the ground rule is the patients needs our donations, and dun be misled by the amount of reserves nkf has because it is a good practise to stockup their finances so they can do more for the patients. -

hello we are talking about 20 -30 years of reserves here !!! Carrying on donating to a can with a big hole in bottom will not do any good . It is better to wait for the can to be fix and new guideline to be layout first . Why rush to increase the reserve more when they already find it hard to know what to do with it till they can think of golden taps . -

therefore 100% divided by 30 = 3.333333%
that mean their operating expense is only 3.33333%of their reserves every year.....
so if u they pass the reserves to a fund manager... they can easily generate a return of 5 to 10% return per yr...
even if u lend it to our very nice CPF board and ask for a 4% return as per the special a/c interest rate....
so.. they have enough to survive as long as they dun suddenly pay a 24mth bonus to their staff or build another $200M gold plated build...
am i right??

and definitely the longer the reserves can last, the better. no doubt the reserves can last 30 years. but after that? if the ppl with no foresights thinks that it can last for 30 years and stop donating, the reserves will not grow and when 30 years are up, there will be no more money. and who knows, when you may be the one that needs that money -

Ever heard of kidney dialysis foundation? This is the one that need help to get funds,not NKF now that has 30 years of reserves.
You want to donate?K donate to KDF and stop coming here to request people to donate to NKF when they have not even settled their transparency issue.

put it this way...i understand the need for reserves, saving for that stormy day, or week for that matter, and concerning reserves, the more the merrier. but, what i feel the public is upset about isn't really the reserves, its the transparency, and the use of funds.
for years now, i've always wondered. in those annual shows, wouldn't it be better to simply donate the amount of money spent on prizes directly to the foundation, instead of using them as gifts in lucky draws? in that case, simple economics would lead you to wonder just how much of your donation dollar actually ends up doing the intented deed. i mean, the cost of production is not cheap, add that to the cost of the prizes, and all the rest of the overheads? i guess you all know what i'm driving at.
i believe it would be good for the average man-on-the-street to be able to at least know how much of his money is reaching the patients, and how much is spent on overheads. also, as for the salary issue, this may be non-profit, but i still believe in paying as well as possible. it's an added incentive to the workers, and so if we can afford to, lets pay them well as a way of saying thank you for the things that they're doing, and for the sacrifices they make, and you don't get to see. nothing over-the-top, but at least average, or better still, better than average. we tend to have an out-of-sight-out-of-mind mentality...lets change that. -
I feel tat they can return us the money but not from the reserve instaed from the BOD pocket. The reserve money is innocent as its needed to help the sick, we should take from those greedy n balck hearted ppl as they r the one tat did all these sinful thing n betray the public.
