Ah yes! I just watched it two days ago! I guess in real life, we tend to settle for what's most convenient. I read somewhere that in a relationship, there are 3 Rights: right person, right time and right place.Originally posted by dibilo:in reality .. its hard
in movies.. yes... haha i just watched "love actually" and in it, 1 of them speaks english, the other speaks portuguese. in the end, they secretly learnt the language of the other and got together
One of them has to learn the language of the other.Originally posted by ^spidee^:Say the both of you are from different cultural backgrounds and he/she doesn't speak the languages you know at all.
Will love still conquer all? Or is the ability to communicate more important?
same here...i believe that no matter what, you have to be able to communicate openly...too many things left unsaid can cause dangerous rifts...Originally posted by Rhonda:I guess in the beginning, it might be 'fun' or 'interesting' or provide a breath of fresh air because of the cultural differences, the different looks and all that.
But after the intial euphoria is over, wouldn't you want to get to know him / her better? That's when you do need to communicate to be able to know each other on a deep level.
Sooner or later, frustration would also set in when you realise that it's a task even to make each other understand each other's simplest needs. Also, even communicating simple things like, 'What would you like to eat?' becomes a challenge. Playing charades for a long time gets to you.
If you can't even chit-chat with each other, how would you know what you have in common and all that anyways?
So, my answer is nope! Open Communication is BIG for me!![]()
