90s poly/uni life

How many of u here expereinced poly or uni life in 90s? IMO it was very fun and fulfilling. No worries,no outrageous transport fares and a vibrant clubbing scene. Got all the money to spend on yurself + fees were cheaper. Sigh, miss those times......Now need to pay so much for poly and uni

oh yes. how i miss my poly life. so carefree, no worries at all. even if we do badly in exams, we can still magically make it to the next year.

I was from Singapore Poly from 1998-2001. In 1998, bus fares and mrt fares are so much cheaper. I remember back in 1998, fresh out of secondary school and armed with the RED MRT ticket, I would use it to travel on bus 74 from far north to Singapore Poly. But of course sometimes those arseholes come and check and you just have to be quick enough to siam and alight. In my first month in Poly in 1998, 30 dollars can last me the entire month!
I would agree with most people here that the 90s was a time of merry making as the economy was doing so well then. True, we still had to work real hard and face work related stress BUT you get rewarded. According to my dad, those were the times when a person REALLY did one person's job and bonuses of 3-4 months were not uncommon then. If you are capable, you would really climb up real fast if you had a Diploma or Degree. But of course, cars and homes were expensive then. My dad paid 150k+++ for his Toyota Corona in 1996 (COE 57k+++) and when you walk to Borneo Motors in the early/late 90s, the Sales Engineer would really entertain you unlike now.
But now it's different, one person will do 3-4 persons job and 0 month bonus is a reality now. Signz, I am in SMU now and I really wonder what the next 10 years hold for me. I don't really know whether I will land a good job or not. The future now seems so uncertain. -
It's true that the 90s was merrymaking times which is why u see those teens turning into ah beng/ah lian ect. It was a merrymaking paRtying time!
the whoLe of the 90s! LIFE WAS SLOWER AND RELAXED AND PEOPLE HAD TOO FREE TIME TO DIVERT THEIR ATTENTIONS TO OTHER THINGS. -

i still remember back then if the lecture is too boring, during the 5 minutes break will sneak out of the lecture hall and never return. most probably the boys and I will end up at the LAN shop playing CS.
those were the crazy days. -
