standing_only bus?????

i am thinking of some ideas and would like to listen to the views of anybody as long as they are constructive........
i am like thinking of the idea of having a standing-only bus, as the name suggests there will be no seat so the passengers will have to stand. i think that this might solve the problem of over-crowding during peak hours. these buses will also operate in the other hours of the day as well so as to maximise revenue.
i would like to listen to views on these, new ideas are welcome. -

Maybe for those plying the business districts....
But definitely not for HDB estate buses, think of the elderly, those aunties carrying their market stuff.....they sure KPKB if only can stand, cannot sit. -
lim peh dun buy the ideas, who want to pay bus fare only to stand travelling the whole journey?

these idea has long been argued and thought off? how about installing ramps for those handicapped? this is quite common in foreign countries...
an assessment is being done to find out its feasiblability...so what do you guys think? -

some of you people seriously need counselling. The dude's suggesting a pretty good idea to ease peak hour bus problems.. and here you guys start talking about giving perverts more opportunities to grope and touch. I shan't even bother addressing that.
I think standing-only buses have potential. But they should only apply to routes that are usually taken by the able bodied, which is something quite hard to accomplish. Howabout if you added maybe a row or two of seats meant only for children, senior citizens, pregnant women.. and basically people who REALLY need to sit down. These buses should only operate during peak periods and should CONCURRENTLY operate routes with normal buses giving people a choice of taking either type. Or how about if these buses had foldable seats?
All this can only be accomplished when Singaporeans start living more civic minded lifestyles. Do you think we're ready for that? -

it is an idea... make it cheaper also. think soon, more people will be taking that instead of the regular buses.

Why? You have to consider the senior citizens. They can't handle sustained standing because of weak legs...common sense.
What most of Europe and developed countries do is to minimise the seatings on a bus, leaving only seats for old people. The rest are given plenty of room for standing. Capacity per bus can increase and turnaround per person is faster at bus stops.
And on the topic of perverts, i think that's a reasonable issue that has to be addressed. Voyeurs will surely take advantage of cramp conditions. Just look at the situation on MRT trains. People nowadays have to get involved in making citizen's arrests if necessary to protect the interest of others, especially since the majority of replies in this thread are obviously male, who have no inkling of how females feel about leering and close encounters of the perverted kind. -

As society progresses, we hope that the people progress with it. Already i see people readily giving up seats on buses and trains.
