need help in booting pc

  hi people need some advice here..
  
  when i on my pc, the screen will always be blank. The Hdd acitivity light will be flashing for a few seconds then...totally no activity liao
  
  then i need to reset, and things will be back to normal liao
  
  any suggestion on what might have gone wrong?
  could it be cmos battery flat?
  
  (other than the above prob, everything runs smoothly once pc is booted up)
