Oh c'mon...it's a sensationalised storyline. The facts are true but whatever happened during the actual fighting is purely dependent on the antics of the survivors...for example:
Episode 9: The last patrol had Winters failing to discharge his duties by telling his men to have a 'good nite's sleep' and report in the morning that they 'made it across the river' and that they were 'unable to acquire any prisoners'.
Now if that were true, what are the implications of such a court martial offense should the senior comdrs watch the show and later press charges for a crime that dates back to WWII? Such a thought probably lingered in the minds of the producers during the filming for sure.
