As long you don't affect their business(ie depriving other customers a seat during peak hours), they don't really care...
I used to go terminal 2 staff canteen to study also lehz...a lot of pple go there. Then there is this 'unofficial' boundary to where you can study in it...hah -
As long as u patronise them, don't think they will ask u to leave.
Anyway u can move around- MacDonald, Burger King, Delifrance etc -
i was there for to study for my exam a couple of times in year 2003.. stayed in BK.. perm
den come 3am, they'd chase us off cos they have to start cleanin up.. den we'd proceed to the food court up a level..
until 5, that's when i'll start feelin hungry n start prayin for BK to open for biz asap 
terminal.... 2 i tink.. have to sit in sky train to reach there from mrt station
den we'd go for a couple of rides in sky train when we're bored -

ai yoh if you all want to study go to the new national library is the view is nice instead of going to Changi Airport and must hunt for suitable places to study

the current burger king at T2 is next to the MRT station entrance -
