  what i heard from the older generation, who understand dialects more, that "chio" doesn't refer to pretty but it simply refers to female dog instead. any expert in dialect can confirm?

  'chio' and 'buey hiow bai' are two hokkien terms i learn from sgf. i've nvr heard of them in my life, although i come from a traditional hokkien family (grandparents came from xia men).
