The President's Star Charity show has so far raised S$3.8 million, outperforming last year's figures.
It was a closely-watched show as it is the biggest fund-raiser since the NKF-saga a few weeks ago.
The President's Star Charity is backed by President SR Nathan himself and it caps the month-long President's Challenge charity drive.
Last year, the President's Star Charity show raised nearly S$2.9 million to help 45 charities, which were selected by the President.
That helped to bring the total President's Challenge coffers to more than S$8 million.
By all accounts, this year is likely to match that amount.
The President has said he is counting on the generous nature of Singaporeans to support the charity TV show and help the needy.
And MediaCorp artistes left nothing to chance.
They put up a spectacular song and dance - all in the hope of raising money, and providing help for 47 beneficiaries. - CNA /ch -
it is not surprising the sum collected via phone call or sms is well below expectation this time...

i cannot bring myself to watch after the first few segements...so lame......i watch the 9pm tcs 8 show......quite funny...definitely more entertaining than the charity show.
but come to think of it, those ppl really need our help, so just donate a bit lah...... -

i am glad i didnt.
the poor helps the poorer while the rich looks on. -

the other two is the NKF Children's Fund and the actual NKF Kidney fund.
the one being held 3 times last month was the NKF Cancer fund, I think.
so, in SG, one year got a total of more than 8 charity shows(because each charity show is usually splited into 2 - 3 parts, inviting foreign stars and local stars for each part). KNN eh!!!!!
NKF the most power loh. Wha.......got Children version, Cancer version and the actual Kidney version one ah????!!! KNN!!!!!
