Some questions on Poly Courses..

Okie, im taking my Os this year but currently im interested in NP business studies,however i have one query. Do i need to have good command of my English Language to survive in this course? Because my forte is in my maths and science and my language is really weak but im not really interested in engineering.. so need to ask those who are in the business course for help

What is effective communication?
It is about letting others understand what you want to say.
It is also about understanding what others are saying.
Generally, it is not about using bombastic words or that the grammar must be 100% accurate or super beautiful sentences. You will notice that some forumites are very strong in their english language but not many understand their posts. In this sense, they are not communicating effectively. However, if all the forumites are lawyers and english teachers, then it is perfectly alright for them to use super chim english.
I believe you will do fine in NP business, judging from the english you type. Don't worry about presentations, the course is supposed to teach you how to do them. As for report writings, just use simple sentences will do - read some business articles (ignoring the business jargons at this moment) and you will know what I mean. AFter your Os, should decide to take the NP biz cos, rEad business articles frequently to improve your business english.
Most importantly is whether do you see yourself working in the business line, aka marketing, finance, accounting, logistics, human resource, etc.
If you are indian or chinese, I suggest you up or at least not ignore your mother language.

Simplicity is the order of the day. Long are gone the olden days where bombastic words is used even in the most trivial conservations.

Having a B4 grade in O, so what? You still have many years ahead to improve your English.
Anyway I know of people who are C5/6 in their Os doing very fine in Uni. -
oh thanx a lot to those who replied but then when i told my teachers i wanted to go for a poly, most of them usher me to go to a jc and if not they would ask me to go for engineering courses. They told me that in a business course i have to write a lot of essays and stuff, so with my level of english they think i will suffer inside =/ now in a dilemma should i go for my interest or listen to them.. even my parents think that business is a bad choice, they say its not even a skill =/

hate to burst your bubble but maths and science students aren't cut out to be good businessmen..you might wanna try engineering or science related subjects.
business is not a skill? tell that to donald trumph i guarentee you'll have your butt sued off. -

I had C5 for my O lvl Eng and I was eligible(on paper only) for all Poly courses except mass comm... -

go for your interest. but try to narrow it down abit more. business studies is so general. you could just end up being a salesmen.
