Not trying to attrace flames here but the only case I know of is due to shotgun marriage.
The other cases i know of are all classmates falling in love with other classmates, which is common since they spent so much time together in class anyway. And the femme mothers don't usually object coz' the guys are really quite smart.
Sad to say this but quite a large proportion of singapore women are shallow. I know I know, this statement in itself is damn shallow but it's just an opinion. I'd expound more but quite lazy to do so... -

Guy doesn't marry the girl, girl's mother will make the guy marry the girl.
Guy wants to stay with his parents after married, girl's mother will step in and tell the guy "Don't!" But can stay with girl's parents.
I have seen that happened right before my own eyes. The girl quarrelled over petty stuff (just because the guy refused to join her for her family lunch/dinner), she quarrelled and cried over the phone. The mother took over the phone and scolded the guy, even though it's obvious the girl was unreasonable.
