Happy Birthday to MM Lee Kuan Yew
For over the past 46 years since you become PM and rule over Singapore you have developed it from a shattered (developing, third world country)city to a modern and high-rise buliding (developed, first world country). But there is still room for improvment is some ways and matter as all government in the world is not perfect but you still try to cover this and that. I want to say a big thank you to you and hope that you still can listen to our views on the government or Singapore as this is our country and we can comment what we can

Please take into consideration of the thread title and pay due respect to a great man.
I agree that no man is an island and Singapore belongs to Singaporean. Every true blue Singaporean had and will continue to contribute to nation building and effort by all (no matter how small) needs to be noted and appreciated. Yes, we shall never forget the contribution by the many comrades, workers and fellow Singaporean who had dedicated their life to nation building and had fallen on the way. I say thank you very much for giving us a place which we can proudly call “our country our home”.

Yes, that is true. The credit should go to those people who had fallen along the way while striving to make life better for all. To all those who don't realise this i wish they JUST (/Only) imagine, you would get all the freedom or whatever you think do not have it in Singapore,
BUT
you were not born in Singapore instead in a third world country, why think of third world country just imagine you were born on the other side of Singapore in Indonesia.
You would want to give up the things you like and be a part of Singapore.
How often we see poeple from this side (Singapore) going there to take citizenship than the people from the other side (e.g. Indonesia) wanting to be here.
i definately agree the people of Singapore have also played their part to bring Singapore to this position but it is mostly the LEADER who is responsible for all the decision making and bring the people of the nation together and to this position where it has reached today.
No one can be 100% perfect.
So please learn to respect and give credit for the Good someone has done.

But there's a difference between a person who is a humble servant of the nation and one who continues to bask in the glory of yesteryears.
Every year on national day, we are reminded of the difficulties and troubles of building a nation and how MM turned it all around.
There's no doubt to the quality of the man and he has proven in the past time and again he can make a difference.
But there's no need for ppl to put him up on a golden pedestal. There's no need for temple worship. Just an acknowledgement of his list achievements is sufficient.
Btw, he has a list of failures as well, so he isn't an infallible omniscient.
Your concept of leader > masses is also hopelessly flawed. Anyone will tell you it takes two to tango.
A leader is nothing without the people, and likewise vice versa. -
