Feel sorry for them.
RIAA should get some of the blame for the horrendously overpriced CDs(It costs much more to manufacture a cassette tape than to press a CD but we're paying 3 to 4 times what we used to pay for tapes.). And there's so much bad music out there most cds have at best 1 or 2 decent songs.

Some songs don't get sold in CD(s) in singapore.

Actually you can transfer the songs bought online to an mp3 player or other pc, not directly but indirectly. You have to burn the songs to a CD, i.e. create a music CD (not a data CD) that can be played in a normal CD player. From there, you rip the song from the CD back to mp3. Ya...can't say i feel sorry for the millionaire singers out there. At the end of the day, they are just that. Singers. The world is not going to end just because some people decide to stop singing.
Yes, there is an argument that the entertainment industry provides lots of jobs for other more 'ordinary' people. OTOH, everyone has a limit on how much he/she is willing to spend on entertainment. If they are not buying CDs, it is likely that money is being spent elsewhere, thereby creating jobs.
I feel the same about sportsmen/women. In case anyone is interested, -
