Singapore's NKF requests CAD help in probe into "matters of grave concern"
SINGAPORE: The interim board of the National Kidney Foundation has come across certain "matters of grave concern" in the course of its work over the last one month.
An NKF statement says it has requested the assistance of the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) to look into these matters.
As these matters have been referred to the authorities, the NKF says it is not at liberty to discuss them at this stage.
The whole NKF saga started in mid July when it took Singapore Press Holdings and one of its writers to court for defamation.
In the course of the trial, details emerged on the pay and perks that its Chief Executive Officer TT Durai was getting.
Public pressure led to the resignation of Mr Durai and the board as the Health Ministry stepped in to appoint an interim board and CEO.
The matter was heavily debated both in Parliament and among the public.
Main issues discussed were the loss of the public's confidence in giving to charity, and whether NKF's 1,800 kidney dialysis patients would be affected adversely. - CNA/ir -

I pity the patients most... sigh... and yeah... for their staff... I feel for them also... just imagine that you are working in a charity organisation and you dunno what's going up there?

'Matters of grave concern'.... that's really, really vague.
I'll only believe that when the NKF CEO comes out in the open with a press conference to clarify what these 'matters of grave concern' really are. -
Sure it is grave concern. Tons of $$$ could be missing. The cost of dialysis could be dirt cheap but they seem to be inflated into bombs for S'porean.

Not only tat I heard give birth in msia govt hospital also very cheap for msians. Of cuz in terms of facilities and environment not on par but quite competitive. But then got catch lor cuz got real life case of wife sister fren go there based on estimated time of give birth but doc say still not time yet no bed give her sleep so ask her go home first. So give and take lor
I wonder is our medical cost purposely bloated to fatten the wallets of those so called world class surgeons and doctors? How much cost actually went to the hospital facilities and how much went to the skills the surgeon/doctors performed? Hmmm...... -
Maybe we should consider importing the dialysis machines into M'sia. Run a Kidney Hospital for S'porean kidney patients there. Employ M'sian nurses then we can earn more "peanuts". How is that?

Wonder if all the CAD top people shaking legs in office. News come out on paper liao and they still have to wait to be invited to investigate the case. All these civil servant jia leow bee.

nkf still has 300k regular donors, only 40k stopped giving after the controversy.
i dont understand these donors. nkf has 262 million in their reserves. there are more needy charities out there. why do these people insist on giving to nkf? they can always come back to nkf in the future when their reserves run out. the reserves are left sitting there while other charities continue to struggle and ask for more money.
nkf lowered the cost of dialysis. from next month patients have to pay 162 a session. (previously 200) this compares well with kdf's 154.
kns. nkf has so much reserves and yet its patients have to pay 46 more than kdf's. (previously) after the revision they are still paying more than those at kdf.
mr khaw said he would rather not touch the kitty as it was still unclear how long the 262 million reserves will last
what kind of logic is this? so they will continue to canvass for donations while the 262 mill sits in the bank? all because it is unclear how long the money will last? -

Recently, i've heard of an interesting speculation that TT Durai was initially the PAP's candidate for the presidential election, but after the NKF scandal the PAP no choice, gotta axe him and allow nathan to run for re-election instead. That would explain the following phenomenon:
1) PAP protected TT Durai during the scandal
2) Nathan initially refused to say if he was running for the presidency, saying so only after this NKF scandal -> He received the PAP endorsement only after the NKF affair?
Anyway, Durai definitely qualifies to run, cos his NKF has more than $200 milllion.
Just imagine if his NKF crap hadn't come to light, people will all vote for him for being the 'saviour' of kidney failure and cancer patients, the greatest philanthropist in Singapore.
