Ulcer in Throat

Hey, I have an ulcer in my throat, along with persistent cough, plus one sore eye. Everytime I swallow, my throat will hurt and my ears will hurt. Then I shine torchlight inside my throat and see some swellings. The doc told me its bacterial throat infection. But even with the antibiotics it doesn't seem to be getting better. Anyone has any good doctor or medicine or anything to recommend to alleviate the pain and tell me exactly what I'm suffering from?
(I dun trust that doc...but bo pian at nite i can't swallow so have to go to 24-hr clinic...) -

If it is a herpes infection, you need to start taking Valtrex (possibly a 10-day course).
If not, you should switch your antibiotic; try a 14-day course of Augmentin.

Let the doctor take a look at your throat and determine if it is indeed a herpes infection; if he's unsure, I suppose that you can take concurrently both Valtrex and Augmentin and ask him therefore to prescribe for you a course of each.
In tbe interim, make an appointment to see an ENT specialist.
Your tonsils could be chronically infected (that is if you aren't having a herpes infection) and may need to be surgically removed. -
go back again n get a new course of antibiotics

In fact, cold sores are also caused by herpes viruses and such infections can be transmitted without sexual contact.
Cold sores can lead to complications, and, when they do, the complications in question cannot always be treated by antibiotics.
The infection you are thinking of is probably genital herpes.
Genital herpes (or a herpes infection of the genitals) is almost always contracted by sexual contact. -
I agree, especially if the ulcer in the mouth is on one side. It is a reactivation of a viral infection caused by the Herpes virus family, including Herpes Zoster. See your GP and ask about this possibility. If you have urinary symptoms as well, it could be a condition known as Reiters' syndrome but that tends to be joint symptoms too. Its not the mouth...its the throat...right at the back too..(no i don't have sex with prossies I'm a girl...) I'm really scared...and bloody miserable too...

Are your stools normal, hard or stuck?

Chill babe. My number 1 hated illness is sorethroat.
Anyway, I felt what you're encountering right now a couple of times before. Miserable, definitely man. You can't get to eat, nor drink your favourite stuff right now. What to do? Endure, and force yourself to drink more water or herbal tea.
I do believe it helps by gargling salt-water, especially before meals. It helps to soothen your throat a little, hence at least, you can take it some food. Usually when I'm having sorethroat, I slim down man. Ain't good, better to take noodle or kway teow soup or stuff like that. Avoid solid food, fried and oily food of course.
It will go away lar. Takes days or 1 or 2 weeks. Get well soon.

Wah....I'm miserable.....but the funny thing is when I cough I can cough until I cry...then puke. Then most of the cough occurs suddenly, and i keep coughing and coughing and it suddenly stops. Then basket, the damn painful swallowing happens right before I sleep at night...until my own saliva also cannot swallow....*sianz*...but thanks so much for ur info...
