HE starred in the '90s hit TV series Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
Now, former child actor Skylar Deleon is making headlines, for the wrong reasons.
The 26-year-old and his wife have been accused of killing a couple in California, attacking them on a luxury yacht before tying them to the anchor and throwing them overboard - alive.
The bodies were never found, but Deleon and his wife, 24-year-old Jennifer Henderson Deleon, have been ordered on Tuesday to stand trial for the murders in Los Angeles.
'It's haunting to think these nice, loving people were trying to hold their breaths as they sank to the bottom of the ocean,' Deputy District Attorney Matt Murphy said during the hearing.
'This is as cold-blooded as it gets.'
The court heard that Deleon, who has a previous conviction for burglary, came up with the plot after spotting the 17m luxury yacht for sale in a boating magazine.
Retired probation officer Thomas Hawks and his wife had been living on board the yacht off southern California, but had decided to sell it and buy a smaller boat and a house in Mexico.
So Deleon and his then-pregnant wife posed as interested buyers and convinced the Hawks to take the yacht on a test run on 15 Nov last year, said a police detective.
They allegedly roped in another accomplice, street gang member John F Kennedy.
ATTACKED WITH STUN GUN
Several kilometres off the coast of Newport Beach, the Hawks were attacked with a stun gun, handcuffed and gagged and blindfolded with duct tape.
They were made to sign over their power of attorney, a written legal document that gives a person the authority to act for another, to one of the assailants.
Then the Hawks were tied to the yacht's 30kg anchor and thrown overboard.
They were later reported missing by relatives.
A paper trail led the police to the Deleons, who produced a bill of sale for the yacht and the power of attorney.
Authorities believe the bill of sale was falsified.
The police also found that Deleon had unsuccessfully tried to access the Hawks' bank account in Arizona using the power of attorney.
But the story gets more complicated.
The alleged attackers were reported to the police by a fourth plotter, Alonso Machain, who said he met Deleon while working as a prison guard, reported The Times.
Machain told detectives that he agreed to take part in the killings in return for several millions of dollars. Deleon and him had originally intended to carry out the murders a week earlier, but aborted the plan because Mr Hawks was heftier than they expected.
They enlisted Kennedy to help them, and returned on 15 Nov to carry out the killings.
All the defendants have pleaded not guilty to murder. And the drama continues. -

considering that he's 26 years old this year, meaning that 10 years ago when the series is shown, he's just a 16 years old kid. most probably some extra u won't even recognise. kinda strange an extra like him also can make it onto the papers. -

Well, it's probably because he's an extra, that's why he's been driven to murder. Unemployed actors have a lot of angst and can be quite "creative" when it comes to dealing death.

Besides, I believe that Newspaper accredited him as a former "Power Ranger Star". The media thans to hype up a lot of stories. Sensationalism sells more newpapers. I guess if he was one of the main rangers, there would be another media circus. The media likes to make "heros" of out of muderers. Watch "Natural Born Killers" if you don't believe me.

JFK was killed 1963. You are thinking Abraham Lincoln who died 1865, hardly 18th century. Want to flame someone at least must know the facts.

BTW Skylar Deleon has been charged with a 3rd murder. Guess, he didn't learn any of the morals on the show.
