then, must pay for a translator to translate the words 1st b4 tattooing issit?Originally posted by Gedanken:I agree with his principle - if the victims respected the culture enough, they would have bothered to owrk out the words in Japanese, and then take that to him.

Oh sweet Jaysus, that's the best laugh I've had in a long time! This guy's a classic!
I agree with his principle - if the victims respected the culture enough, they would have bothered to owrk out the words in Japanese, and then take that to him. If they're going up and asking for it in English, odds are that his assessment of their kitschy intent is accurate, and that's an insult. Dammit, if you're going to be borrowing someone else's language, at least have the respect and decency to learn something about it first.
Bad? This guy Sakai rocks! He wouldn't stand for his culture being whored out to fashion victims, and good on him for that.Originally posted by JennTS:your as bad as he is you bitch.
I think Sakai's "victims" should be permanently exiled to Hiroshima and/or Nagasaki. Same applies to the judge and jury at his trial and police officers who may have abused him.Originally posted by Gedanken:Well, they paid Sakai to translate, didn't they? He did what he did because they were too shallow, lazy and stupid to work it out for themselves, and through those qualities trivialised and insulted his language and his culture by making it as much of a fashion statement as pink-dyed poodles - damn straight they had it coming.
he went to jail and rightly so.Originally posted by Gedanken:Bad? This guy Sakai rocks! He wouldn't stand for his culture being whored out to fashion victims, and good on him for that.
They got shown up to be the damn fools they were and rightly so.Originally posted by JennTS:he went to jail and rightly so.
In the first place, only a sicko would want a skull tattooed on his skin. Also, Sakai was frustrated with the system that was dominated by people who were better off dead from radiation sickness in Nagasaki.Originally posted by the Bear:i would say what he did to the inmates, showed his true character..
and that had nothing to do with whatever "culture" he said he was defending..
it looks nice? i could argue that a person who wants to tatto some words he doesn't even understand is sicko too.Originally posted by iveco:In the first place, only a sicko would want a skull tattooed on his skin.
I should think it is the latter. What else could it be?Originally posted by Gedanken:Okay, granted the Winnie the Pooh thing (though amusing) was irrelevant to the culture issue, but he wasn't defending that, was he?
Does it show his true character? He's been put in jail, unfairly in his opinion - would such circumstances show a person's character, or is he just majorly pissed off at the world right now?
No, that's not sicko - that's just cheap, mindless, shallow prostitution of a culture.Originally posted by hisoka:it looks nice? i could argue that a person who wants to tatto some words he doesn't even understand is sicko too.
