  Sorry to borriw thread to ask some question...so tis rig moves around right.. on wheels or float?? how it move on the sea bed??
  
  And ya..those normal oil rig..how they build it to widstand those waves?? i seen on pic there are like concrete cement pillars....cement even add in those quick dry solvent also can hardend in water mea?? or they take a hollow pipe, put to seabea, pump water out then pour cement??
  
  Anyone to tel me tis question i hv for some time..

  Most deep sea rigs are not planted firmly to the sea bed, they float and are only anchored pretty well. Since they float, they are mobile and can be towed to another location after completion. From the pic above, its most likely a floating rig that got pulled out of its anchors and pushed to its current location by the wind and currents.

  those rigs are floating ones, just secured/anchored (cant remember using wht)

  wtf n00b, cement react with water to form crystalised spikes which strengthens it into concreate.

  Orh...so it is not planted into seabed....only got the anchor ...i see..hehehe..

  Even if there are prefab concrete pillars at its base, its base is still on atop a huge float, like a tanker. And the floats are anchored to the seabed, so they can't float away of course. I was unable to find a schematic.

  i tot its bolted down to the seabed wid concrete beams.....cos lik see tv or pic, all like so stable/firm when those wind/waves come...
  
  i still tot if it really lik do pilling into seabed, how they make so long beam of concrete...& seabed so soft..unless go in many metres..hahahaha
  
  Or they use the ultrasonic to see how deep them make the concrete to build the platfoem to drill oil.

  My good friend in New Orleans has fled his house (bungalow) for higher grounds in Baton Rouge due to Katrina. I'm not sure if he's ok. The last I heard from him was Saturday.
  
  I think his beautiful house would have been gone by now and he would be homeless. It's devastating to see the wretched pix of French Quarter and parts of New Orleans. Mississippi River was calm the last time I had a short cruise on it. Now it has overflowed its banks.

  new orleans is below sea-level..... meaning the whole could flood like " the day after tomorrow" hear it in CNA documentary
