Is this how Singapore treat her senior citizens who contributed to Singapore growth? It is sad to see that they have to work like a bangla when they are at such an age. Back to the age of coolies?
Do you fear that when you turned 50s, you have to work like a bangla?

YES !!! This is how Singapore is treating the old one. Although armed with vast experiences, the older worker is expected to do manual work which the younger one shun.... The WDA officer told me we must not expect to be employed like before and asked us not to be choosy but to take any job that come along. Their responsibilities at that moment was to look for a job for you and not a career.... I am 45 with not much education and worked my way to manager post at the last job. So no choice but to do manual work lor.... sigh ..... The Government sector is not taking the lead in employing older worker, so how to expect pte company to do so ??? We don't asked for hight pay but at least a desk bound as that was my previous work was, but then .............Originally posted by Cindyfeh:This news also appeared in yesterday's Today.

"Mr. Tan, I think a person of your age and standing will feel quite taxed doing this kind of job la, why dont you depend on your children instead, go to the park, play chess with other old people. You know la, the economy has changed so much so quickly, that is why you come here to learn new skills that are relevant. What about this, you can spend about 12 months applying for office jobs la, i think that is the current average search time for respectable senior citizens such as yourself...anyway this cutting job only has x vacancies and people are calling to ask about the details"
