Dr Tony Tan becomes a director at SPH

..he (Dr. Tan) hopes his experience as a politician and CAbinet minister since 1979 will help the publishing company "further improve its coverage of national and world news."
With all due respect, how is his political experience relevant to meeting his aim of increased news coverage? Side note: Kwan was deemed not legible to run for president election despite having vast accounting experience.
Btw, his education is in applied mathematics. -
He may be the new director for SPH.
For what i think, he might even be the next president of singapore.
Juz like President Nathan, innitially, he said that he wun run for 2nd term as a president.
All of a sudden, he said he wants to run for 2nd term.
To what i believe, The top people juz want him to run for a year or 2, then step down due to 'health problems', and DR Tony Tan run for the Presidency. and as usual, no one will be awarded the certificate of eligibility.

Im not convinced Tony will be a president.
Because if he ever becomes a president, he will be very charismatic. His stature will be too much to handle.
Look at all the past presidents.
They are all carefully selected.
There was only one exception, President Ong, who was relatively of a bigger stature. One of the inner circles of the elite PAP. Had a standing. The government had some problems with him when he became president.
Look at Tony.
He is very senior. Commands a lot of respect, inside and outside PAP and government.
If Tony ever becomes president, there will be two powerful figures: the President and the PM.
The elites won't take this risk. They like to monopolize power and install a figurehead. Someone who don't really have enough stature to challenge anything. Someone who can serve as the head of state, without being a threat.
That man is not Tony Tan. -
