Foreigners perception of S'pore is negative

yes it is safe here and yes my son is 12 and can take public transportation without his mother worrying so much.
Public transportation is also safe in other countries let's not make singapore such a unique place.
But you cannot have a child grow in a society like Singapore. It is OK for the majority of us westeners who have had our education in the west. Our minds are different than the average singaporean accustomed to obey and not discuss issues. And I don't want my son to grow in such a contest. I want him to learn about differences, about discenting, I want him to be able to read whatever he wants, to ask questions, to challenge. I want him to know that danger exist, that , yes, unfortunately, this is not a perfect world and that he will ahev to fight and struggle for what he wants.
You cannot live in disneyland all your life....

I also wants my children to be able to do things like you said, to read whatever he wants, to question, to challenge. The system here teaches the wrong values.

Sure man, we don't have the natural disaster, our children dun bring guns to school but we're so screwed we dun even know why we're screwed.
But one thing for certain, i dun wan my son to serve NS. The truth is i rather bring up my children in a farm then this stupid hellhole(maybe too harsh a word).
This place is not perfect rather it is far from perfect. And it is definitely not a disneyland, perhaps make to look like disneyland but behind the props is a stench of rotting carcass. -
Everything comes with a price. You gain some you lose some. It's never perfect world. Singapore is unique bcos of our multi racial society. There are many sensitive issues where open discussion may trigger tense feelings. What's the feeling like to be a Niger amongst the Caucasians or vice versa? Surely there are sensitive issues that are taboo.
What's the price of democracy? You fight for your rights, you discuss many issues openly, you talk about races and religion. You invite unnecessary tension. For the price of democracy, you have lots of unrest, strike and conflicts. We can't afford it. We are only a tiny red dot without natural resources. There are trade-offs for Safety and Security.
Even if it's not the real world, we don't need to experience it to know what is happening in Baghdad today. We can read whatever we want, we know that danger exists, we know the differences betw war and peace, democracy and trade-off. We cannot live in "Disneyland" all our life, but we built it the way we want. -

wait go US , and bush declared war with iran, all males get drafted just like vietnam war. then you run back to reregister your son to become sinagporean again.
This round iraq war, no need drafting, but already standby. they needs second class citizen to fight teh war for the first class. the blacks, mexicon, latin all get drafted so easily and die and not even remembered. ex gen powell lucky to make it alive from vietnam. not sure they required asians.

drugs influence into schools at early age. drugs freely available. all kinds.
see many americans come here, some go back cannot stand singapore, so hard to buy drugs. -
