RIVETS Retrofitting by end of Sep 2005

Do ur know as long its aluminium rivets - got to change to stainless steel rivets

that's wrong, asking us to change to steel rivets, not like we have a choice to not live in high rise flats

what I dun understand is....it's HDB's mistake of not using the RIGHT rivets in the 1st place, why are we the one paying for it??

I done this earlier WA if not those contractors anyhow JUMP Up the price & other charges... becoz of the Laws says END OF SEP 05
and the date is getting near also so everyone was panicked & got contractors to do as fast as they could... 
heard they paid double or triple prices then mine. -

So... i was quite understand HDB position also get alots of scolding frm the residents even though its not their fault

If not wrong, this period date was given since last year 2004 but dunno which month started this to hav enough time for us to do so
At 1st was bit angry of this S***** law why is a MUST 2change & also need to use Ours own $$$...but no use getting this matters so angry coz in the end still got to change it la... somemore makes my face getting old kehee..
So HAPPI GO LUCKY 
that why always got ppl ask 4my i/c to show them when I entering into a pub -

2ndly hdb is government linked so when gov change law pple naturally will equate to hdb is involved in the decision and want ppel to make up for what they did earlier i guess.
personally i only blame hdb for makign the wrong desicion last time(why didn't they consider that aluminium was not strogn enuff) -
This whole bloody issue is the bloody fault of HDb. Construct windows with weak materials. Create this stupid problem of falling windows and blame the ppl for not maintaining it. To cover up their bloody stupid mistake, the gahmen put in stupid law to blame the citizen for not changing them.
Now appoint their stupid HDb approved contractors and charge a bomb. WTF are they doing?
They should do it across the board to change all these bloody aluminium rivets for all the affected flats and absorpt the bloody cost and apolpgise for their bloody mistake.
Typical of the strong arm tactic of the gahmen. See what happen to the next election!

Actually the change to stainless steel rivets is because the case of falling windows are increasing and that worries the government as in ppl may get killed by this falling windows. So if must blame, blame the rivets lor. Why they so useless after say 20 years of usage expired liao cause the window to drop and pose danger to the public. Maybe we should go blame the rivets ?

next moment, they might wanna all to change the glass to tempered glass... and to sliding windows... and then the frame of the windows to use stainless stell screws...and ....wat's next?

Well I think $20 is inclusive of the transport and checking charge. It is the same as say your fridge not cold you call them and they say go your house $20 transport. That is not yet count if they can fix your problem. Hahahha..... get used to it... once you own a house you find paying $$$$ for such task.
If possible must learn some simple DIY tasks in order to save money. Stuff like change light bulb etc.. can be done ownself. Those ownself cannot do then must be prepared to pay $$$$ ask ppl do lor -
but for this time, we can't DIY.
even we buy s/s rivets & change them still require a stamp from authroised contractor that they have inspected. condition ok.
