New computer game - Anti-Japan War Online

According to Interfax China, Anti-Japan War Online is being developed for the PC by a Chinese development team known as PowerNet Tech. In this massively-multiplayer online game, players will take control of one of 17 different Chinese characters from all walks of life, defending their country against the invading Japanese during World War II.
It sounds like a cool idea, but there is a kicker. In most war games, you're given a choice of which side you wish to fight for; in Anti-Japan War Online, it's the Chinese side and only the Chinese side. Not only does it forbid playing as the Japanese, but according to The Guardian Unlimited, the development team went out of their way to cast the Japanese in a very ugly light.
"Our developers hate Japan, so they want to make the game very provocative, but the team leaders have tried to tone down the violence," said one project manager, Liu Junfeng of PowerNet Technology, to the Guardian.
What's even more amazing is that the China Communist Youth League is sponsoring the game to help create a stronger sense of patriotism. And apparently, Anti-Japan War Online is only a stepping stone towards achieving that goal as the CCYL has said that it will work on future titles to "educate" and and create a more unified "national spirit".
Japanese officials have yet to comment on the game. -

finally after years of shooting nazis i get to shoot some slant eyed japs.
imo they should make it more... real instead of having hideous cartoon-ish features. -
