Why are singaporeans so excessively conservative?

i'm shocked by how they behave! for example.. some parents strongly object their daughters to be in a relationship even at the age of 17.. whereas i already had a bf at 11 and my mom was rather neutral about it... singaporean parents are also not open to happening stuff like... coming home late attending parties... having sex at 16 etc. if the limit for legal sex is 16.. they shouldnt be objecting their children doing it as its perfectly legal by law and they should be matured enough to plan for their future at this age. one of my friends got scolded for piercings by her father and i find it ridiculous because this is something parents should not control... one last thing is about dressing... no law state that one cant wear skimpy clothes in public.. although indecent exposure is a crime.. i dont mean in an extent of actually revealing the vital parts of the body.. but still many parents have comments on their daughters when they wear just a little exposing clothes... i guess this is asian culture but come on....we're in a growing soceity their thinking must be more mature and open minded...

my parents do not restrict me at all.. they give me all the freedom i could ever have. that is the way it should be... since i was 10.. they started letting me make my own decisions and they do not care so much since then... that is the way to be independant

honestly i dated when i was 10 and lost my virginity when i was 14 to my boyfriend... my mom knew about it and she was pretty fine with that. i even had friends whose parents bought condoms for them asking them to remind there bfs to use it when they have sex.... this is our culture.. my mom also had sex early and its the way to grow up.
