Switches VS Hubs

If say want to connect several LAN in 1 building together...
Can use Switches instead of Hub? -
both actually connect network peripherals together so it should be ok..
but try to have a managed hub, it has special networking computers built into them that do all sorts of things you will probably never need in your home or small office environment. But its more expensive.

My information provided is not exactly the right answer, but may provide some help to you.
But if u intend to connect serveral LAN together, you need to manage them well enough and configure it -
use bridge?

Do you need to block broadcast traffic between the LANs? If yes, hubs will not work, as you can't define separate broadcast domains with them.
Do you need separate VLANs for security? If yes, then switches that support VLANs are needed.
