Tape to PC

  I've got mini DV tapes... what do I need to transfer the video to my pc? Assuming that I have a DVI.

  get a firewire and plug ur videocam in lor...then use those video editing program lor

  you definatly need a video cam, a firewire port and firewire cable.
  
  otherwise, you can get people to convert for you at places like sim lim or some photo developing shops in neigbourhoods, not too sure about the price i think could be around $15 to $25/hour of footage.

  u mean there isn't anything like a player for these mini tapes? where i can transfer the video to my pc?

  no there isn't any consumer devices for minDV tape, it assumes that you have a videocam in the first place, otherwise why would you be using DV tapes??

  so the best bet now is to look around for a shop which will do the conversion, nowadays quite easy with the neighbourhood photo shops. they will convert to either VCD or DVD format for you.
  
  another alternative, look for people who have the ability to do so, video editing is getting common these days.
