Sad movie about a disabled child

On central the tamil film, moved me to tears.....The child , a pity. When she doesnt accept the mother but befriends the convict. every one thought he was bad, but he saved the child from the enemy

Synopses:
AnJali(1990)
A Story of a little disabled child in an apartment neighbourhood that touched the hearts of many. The story dwells on relationships between childrens in an apartment, a mysterious ex convict neighbour who befriends the child to save her life from an old unseen enemy of her father and the dilemma the parents go through to get their disabled child into society. Ratnam proved once again famous when he extracted a brilliance performance from a 2 year old child and how he did that was still a mystery.It is no easy task to depend upon a 2 year baby's acting for a film.But the children were highly impressive,more impressive than the adults.Many tearjerking emotional scenes with moody lighting and atmosphere with high quallity cinematography.
Yes , if u didnt know , the title is "Anjalee" It was a Ratnam film. One of the best and influential directors of India. Saw it more than a decade ago in the arts film circuit. I had seen all his films..A genius storyteller in this film.....This film was studied in the arts institute film dept where i was frame by frame...Here where i reside i am able to receive Singapore TV. Seems like they showing Ratnam film fest on your TV? The intense lighting and cinematography struck me the most i think and set the appropriate melancholic mood of the story. The flow was perfect and script flawless....Ratnam has infused a strong emotional content in this film primarily aimed at the child/parent audiences. And the way the small kid is charachterized it makes one feel blissed the way it overtakes all the people involved in the society to the one child.
I got to say the climax was a different context altogether when the ex-convict resident in the apartment block whom they ocstracized comes to their rescue of the helpless family and the disabled child giving some action tense feel to the film for a brief period....The fact that this character was not prominently portrayed, which was Ratnam's approach to give a dark mysterious outlook justifying the character. Only a few sec brief scene was shown when the police apprehended him on charges of manslaughter straight after the fight scene.... -
i only know that tamil movie the hero in the show wont die one.
kanna shot a few bullet still can jump high jump low. got super human strength also. -
This movie came about before "The Professional" and has some similarities of the dark character in both films

Take note that not all film from India are commercial mass entertainment. Some of them are art house types. The director Ratnam is one who dwells between the thin line of commercialism and art...The film has won many awards and also the love and affection of people in and around india.So it does not belong to the category stated above. The child...Anjali
a 2-4 year plays this role.She's stupendous in her role.The whole movie is centered with this character..and she has done it.The innocent looks,smiles and childish talk has captured the hearts of millions of people.Mentally retarded as she is she doesnt talk much in the movie but her looks have nade it to the success of this movie.Full marks to Anjali for her performance in my opinion.
The mysterious stranger....in the dark
plays this part of a lonely stranger who is a former convict.The kids imagine him as a psycho(like Jason in friday the 13th).Each time the light is on there is thrill and each time something spooky is imagined by them.the lead .is good at his character...
Anjali's father:
plays the role of anjali's father.He's a strict father yet loving and endearing to his children.He keeps Anjali's problem a secret for quite sometime..but breaks it to his wife after 5 yrs.The character is portrayed well as a disciplinarian.
Anjali&'s mother:
plays this role.She is a very sensitive mom..hurt by each of Anjali's activities.The scene where Anjali tries to touch her mom's chin and then slaps violently on the face..this is very hurting to the mother. She has acted well..throughout the movie.90% performance by her.
The kids..in the colony
Anjali's brother and sister are new comers to the colony which deserts them first...but after a few incidents the kids become friendly.Anjali becomes the centre of attraction soon.The movie owes full credit to the performance of these kids.They keep dancing to the beat and the music is heart thumping and foot tapping. -

At the point the mesage is clear - the stranger's sacrifice will be futile?
=> He had done a favour for save the family from the criminal. But the family still had to deal with the sealed fate of the child to befit a climax to make the audience to leave with a heavy heart.. Ratnam had the script covered well. -

I saw this movie ages ago, It movie will surely make you stick infront of the divine Box. now this film was added in my tear's category...On a very well made film.. you have analysed the film and its characters very well
The cute girl is Baby shamili, the boy is now actor Tarun. The two are grown up and still acting business
