Smokers.. what are the reasons why u smoke?

for me its not to act cool or because my 'friends' do it.. in fact most of my current friends in my jc do not... i guess jc kids are like that. im one of the more open ppl in my sch... i smoke because i love the feeling when i take a puff from the cigarette and inhale the smoke. it is refreshing to me and it kills my stress when i feel lonely bored or angry usually i will buy 1 packet of cigs and smoke alone in the corridor of the flat opposite my grandmother's house so that way none of my family members can see me and after smoking i will usually go to her house for a sumptous meal.. she's a great cook. if u are wondering i am 17 this year and coming to 18.. i look mature so most shops do not ask for ic when i purchase cigs... now that cigs have become part of my life i think its starting to hurt my pocket as i love to club also it also requires a lot of money..... and shopping drains away my hard earnt money. all the money i earnt doing so many jobs during the first three months break have been all spent.

seemed the thing to do.. bored outta my brains in the army...
on hindsight, it was kinda dumb
but we do dumb things in our lives.. but what is important is that we learn from our silly mistakes
i stopped a year and a half ago.. a dear friend of mine asked me to stop in such a heartfelt way, and showed that she cared enough to ask me to stop, i could not reject that request.. so i did
now it's a lot easier on my pocket, i don't cough that much, i don't smell like an ashtray, and food tastes a lot better
i guess looking back, there are some things i have done which were dumb.. but we learn and we grow... i've been there, done that, realised it wasn't that good or cool, and left it behind... -

if i tell u i am les will u be disappointed in me? i feel quite sad now because i cannot get bf and is unsure whether i like gal or guy. i am 17 now. -

said this before... give it a rest.. you will find your path in time..
17 is a time for figuring out what you want in life.. for girls, it's kind of a bit tougher as they don't have the "buffer" of NS hanging over them...
the thing is to do the best you can to be the best you can now... the rest will come in time..

Bear... u must be thinking why do i have so many problems!! but i am a very optimistic gal and look on the bright side of things.. im very tough and dont cry often... i have a very heck care attitude and it shows in my grades.. my teachers even said its cool. haha. sometimes im THAT desperate for a light i actually sneak in a few sticks, put in my pencil case and smoke while i walk to the bustop before i go to sch.. and if got remaining i will smoke on the way back. i always carry a lighter around. the problem is i dont dare to bring the pack to sch because they are very strict with this rule and recently they have caught guys smoking in the sch toilet so i dont want to be the first gal to be called out.

the benefits are many...
you will have more money.. you'll not have to worry about such things like getting caught and stuff, and most of all, you'll save your lungs a lot of grief
also, at the office, i've seen many of my colleagues who are unable to quit even if they wanted to, simply because nicotine is that addictive.. when it's not gotten its claws into you that deep, remove it..
put the money you would spend on ciggies in a box.. and at the end of every few months, take it out and give yourself a treat -
i smoke mostly when i am feeling very frustrated half way through studying...
so stop for a while take a few puff then continue again.... and the vicious cycle continue... -
Bear.. ask u.. caus i dont see myself quitting in the near future as im very addicted to it right now but i will try to slowly cut down.. what will u do or react if u come to know that ur daughter is a smoker? i have not reach legal age yet and will be next year but most of my classmates 'know' that i smoke as they could smell it in my hair etc... now i try to stay away from my mom as much as possible to reduce chances of she getting to know that i smoke. but i am still quite close to her because i call her quite often... usually this is the situation... when i leave home for sch she is still asleep... when i come back from sch she is outside and will only come home after i go to bed...

there are nicotine patches, nicotine gum... these help stave off physical cravings...
the psychological cravings? an idle mind is Satan's playground... keeping busy helps.. and when there is a break in the busy schedule, instead of pulling out a cigarette, other ways of taking a break can be used.. pulling out a little gameboy and having a go at it, or just getting into a routine of stretches to stretch out the kinks in the muscles...
anything to help break or replace the routine of pulling out a cigarette
how i broke the routine can be tough.. but it's the fastest way..
i used pure brute willpower...
i will not buy anymore cigarettes, i will not accept cigarettes, i will not light up anymore cigarettes..
a decision made and therefore i will keep with it..
that's all there is to it -
i seriously hope my mom does not find out about my smoking habits... my mind tells me i will quit by the time i reach 20.. in 3 years time.. i got guys telling my i look sexy when i smoke when i go clubbing.. they sex it is attractive but some guys dont like it.... i feel my life is such a mess.. i cant seem to get everything right.

the thing about getting hooked with your first puff is nonsense. i've had countless first puffs and i still ain't addicted.

well, deep inside you, you know what's right...
simply make a decision to do what is right.. and if and when you falter (and we will falter for we are not perfect), learn from the mistakes made, and try again...
from what we learn and the sum of our experiences, we grow.. and hopefully become better people through our better decisions, and the way we choose to live our lives
make those correct decisions, remember them and try your darnest to stick to them
and you'll be fine -
i can forsee that it will be very hard for me to quit smoking... i am a confident gal and im quite confident with everything ive got... even though on surface value it might not be too good in the eyes of others... take smoking for example. i think i look good when i smoke that's why i do it... and i feel good when i smoke... no regrets and others' bad comments do not really bother me that much.. i tend to let it pass.

It has became a habit to me. Never have the intention to stop.. Used to have.. was trying to stop for this ger.. in the end.. we broke off and.. i'm back to smoking again...
Sometime when u are stress or sad.. to me smoking help calm me down... -

what the Fuck. you dont have enough money and you still want to smoke, the more you smoke, the more money you spend, and then you endanger your health. never mind, in the future, spend even more money to keep yourself alive. good luck with the carcinogens. people like you should smoke more.

i never really catch on with smoking.. in my younger days u can say i played with smoke in my mouth..but somehow not addicted. The types of friends I hang out with are....'unsavoury' so I usually get alot of free ciggarettes so I tried some..but it gives me a little 'high' = no appeal

I hate those people who smoke around me smelling it and I will puke and try to hold my breath as long as I could. Maybe you can visit a consellour in your school or outside like what I did or talk to the trusted people on your problem??? Maybe you can do your favourite hobby when you are stress?? Like me is bus-ride sit until I am satisifed I encourage you not to smoke as it is bad of your health and may ruin rest of your life. Try to spend money on more meaningful things to the government like having a feast for yourself and etc. Don't spend unmeaningful money like cigarattes which is now so expenisive to the government. Give the clean money to the government and not the bad one

yupz... i don't like people who smoke cos i think they stinks. but the most important reason is when people smoke near me i get the harmful 2nd hand smoke n a bad sore throat...
although smokers have brought a considerable amout of economic revenue to the singapore government (which i personally think is quite corrupted and taxes all go into their pocket), i still strongly encourage smokers to quit.. what for waste your money on cigarettes when you can save it and get good food
