  Many of us just want to show off. My secondary school was a single-sex school, and many, many schoolmates would either bring their girlfriends or female partners too the band concert. I wonder if they're there for the music or the parade of escorts.

  most of us(guy or gals) wants to show off, it's human nature, there are many ways to show off.
  
  some guys show off thier pretty gal fren like wat u said, some show off thier cars, branded watches, thier big muscle, etc.
  And gals show off too, show off how big the diamond she got on her neck/finger, show off thier big breast, expensive hand bags, etc.
