They occur everywhere.
Some people will refuse to help you, some will pretend to not know how to help you, try to undermine you by purposely giving you the wrong answers, mock you for not being able to do 'simple questions'..... I've seen it all.
Just stay away from them.
By the way, it's even worse in the workplace. Academic backstabbing is nothing compared to office politics. -
