Primary Schools, English vs Mandarin.

After speaking to people from different backgrounds, I realized the primary school one attends plays a major role in molding the way one speaks, the friends one will have and one's character.
This is especially so in the 'English' vs. the 'Chinese' schools. For example, if one was educated in Mission schools like St Michael's Primary school, ACS and Raffles one would tend to be more comfortable with the English language. As compared to one from a Neighborhood school which tends to me more mandarin orientated. Thus, I believe the primary school one attends is really important.
Thus, given a choice, where would you send your children? Personally, I would send them to an English orientated primary school, then a Chinese orientated secondary school to expose them to different facets of life in Singapore. I will do this if they attend an English orientated school from pri-sec-jc, they may develop the ACS mentality (not necessarily snobs, but just naive). -

Nowadays a lot of young parents speak to their young children in english, hence send them to any sch also no use. Unlike my time, all parents speak in hokkien n chinese to their children unless u come from well educated or rich family, those tend to speak in ang moh
