Do not call me materialistic just because i like dressing up to define myself as who i am.
To me dressing up in school means to make an effort to look presentable. I always wear a nice jacket with whatever i wear.
Now, if you dont practice your dress sense in UNI, you will be crap at it when u begin work properly.

Guys will always be guys. Girls will always be girls. Face it, when it comes to dressing up, we men tend to pay less attention to it than the fairer sex. But we always manage to adapt to the different situations.
Im studying in SIM. Which is just beside Ngee Ann Poly. I tell you, the girls from my school and girls from Ngee Ann Poly (esp those from Mass Comm or FSV) wah lau... everyday like catwalk... Not saying it's a bad thing. Its great for our viewing pleasure
We guys, esp me, like wearing bermudas and t-shirts to school coz it's comfortable and the weather nowadays ah... Like in most of the responses, most of us guys juz came out of the torture chamber called NS. This is our way of expressing freedom. FRREEEDDOOMMMM.............................................
P.S. Wearing bermudas in lecture theatres for 3 hrs can be quite torturous as well..... -

I guess its the culture? You compare biz and law gals against the engine guys, its apples and oranges comparison. Why not compare the gals from engine with the guys from law and medicine?
The gals dressing in NTU has improved tremendously since the introduction of HSS and Bio faculties. Yet the engine gals here are still dressing below average!
Ugly fade baby T with jeans. Hideous bag and trail slippers. I have even seen a china student sit for an exam with her tshirt inside out!
I wear pants (not cargo, not jeans) and normal tshirt to uni. Sometimes I wear a casual shirt instead and everyone I know starts asking me why am I so dressed up. In order to fit in, I guess everyone would try not to stand out by dressing too well. -
Well, all im saying is.... u dont have to DRESS uP like ur going out. But at least do dress like you look as if u do take care of your appearance and dont look messy.

Like yesterday in the shop i worked in, this customer, quite handsome wore SPEEDO shorts and a tight faded black T shirt. HE LOOKED SOOO GAY he makes GAYS look bad even!
He picked out the tightest shirt and bought it even tho i suggested a slightly bigger size.

my bro used to be in nus engine, he rides a bike to uni. he just wears a plain levi's/nike tshirt n a pair of jeans. quite slack ah.
now that he's working, the shirts and pants he wear. WAH! damn nice sia. some more tailor-made pants. -

For me I don't see the point in spending so much time to doll myself up to go to school. Just something casual and comfortable would do me just fine... a T-shirt , jeans and sandals are good enough for me. Of course, I make sure what I wear is presentable enough.... frayed T-shirts with holes in the armpits are a big no-no of course. Likewise, you won't be seeing me wearing my old JC PE shorts or my Army PT shorts to school.
The only time when I would really dress up is when I have lab sessions. Not only are shoes mandatory (they can chase you out for not wearing shoes), but a solid three hours in a freezing air-conditioned environment demands that you wear a jacket.
We guys are practical. Confort and practicality are more important than how good it all looks.
I know of a gal friend of mine who insists on wearing contacts instead of glasses even though her eyes are sensitive and get irritated and swollen easily. When I asked her why she doesn't wear glasses and spare herself the pain, she claimed that she doesn't look good with glasses on.
Sheesh.

Ya! I share the same sentiments. Black rimmed spects-worn with a pretty face, is simply drop dead gorgeous! Intelligent yet sophisticated, mild yet in vogue.
Guys, I think we are just lazy la. I am. It was so tedious when I was in school, had to get up in the morning, wax up (30 minutes, it's never perfect..), dress up(20 minutes..trying to look flimsy, but not too). And I'll end up missing the darn bus, who is usually piloted by some uncle who takes pleasure in leaving ppl running after his bus. Horrible fellow.
Soon, I just gave up my morning ritual, and just go to school as I am. And not suprising I wasn't in the top list of candidates for Prome King at the end pf the day. BUT who cares! I still got my ass kicked just like everyone to Tekong, where the only person U'll be looking at is your OC and your PC. -
