I think ants smell each other when they meet if the stranger ant smell different will be kick out by the group. I ever kept a pet ant and I bath it in soup water later when I put him back to his group. he cant mix with his group cause he smell different le. He must be so sad that time. Made one for ecosystem project where onli a glass of water is sufficient to last the whole year... amazing -

The queen only mates with the official mating ants. Those winged ones. They don't just mate with any tom dick or harry u know? -

I read about ants in the books. researching on what kinda is what kind, cause by look at them with naked eyes I cant draw it detailed, I have to research for ants in close up pictures. -

Speaking of which. Those red army ants have DAMN good eyesight for an insect. When u wave ur finger near them... a couple of cm away, they will actually stand and "ON Guard" u one. IN their ant way lar...

I just use the water to make a small little circle around the ant, no maze.
