Btw, what is "bah"? Why these kids like to punctuate their sentences with "bah"? One of them wrote me a testimonial also and said something nice with the "bah" at the end. -

I guess in sg, on one hand, we want to be more effluent and associate that with being english, yet we want to maintain our roots and we associate that with speaking mandarin, hence the result benig our mixture of different languages.
Of course effluence is NOT equated to being english speaking and maintaining our roots is NOT equated to speaking only our mother tongue.
It is sad as there is no incentive to improve our rudimentary grasp of the various languages further as simplistic mandarin and hokkien can get us by in sg and as long as we can create sentences in english, our working life is fine. -

over here, it's either u are very good in english but very lousy in chinese or u are lousy in both english and chinese. most singaporeans falls into the latter, especially the younder generations. -

Usually when i surf forums that are filled with professionals and westerners or ppl from all over the world that uses the ENglish Language for communication, i will try my best not to make mistakes in my writings and try not to be flaunting a little too much with my words...here..look around though ther may be foreign readers and forumars fo most are bengs and under aged i can see
