We purchased a "Takada" Air Cooler from Carrefour about 4 months ago but did not realised that it can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Last week I noticed a few young mosquitoes flew around my son's writing desk, close to where we placed the Air Cooler for my son in his study room.
Then, I was wondering where could these young mosquitoes come from and I was thinking whether could it be from the water in the Air Cooler.
Yesterday morning, I was burdened again to check the Air Cooler and to my horror when I drained out the water from the Air Cooler and was shocked to find about 20 huge mosquito larvae flowed out from the Air Cooler.
Yesterday, I reported in writing to Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, the Environment Minister from the Ministry of the Environment to request him to urgently take the appropriate action to advise the Public to drain out the water from their Air Cooler to check for mosquito larvae because no one, including ourselves, suspect mosquitoes can fly into the Air Cooler and breed from there. Secondly, I requested him that in order to prevent the general Public from innocently breeding the mosquitoes in their Air Coolers at home and the office, the Ministry should ban the sales of these Air Coolers ( there are several brands in the departmental stores). We hope this feedback will help in the prevention of the Dengue Fever in Singapore.
With this email, I hope you can inform your staff and your friends to do some regular checks on their Air Cooler if they own one, before their Family become victim of the Dengue Fever. Thank you. -

I think just like mule and horse cross breed.
I know these things "take" out the water from the air... and therefore the air feels cooler
