Well said, well said. Hopefully one day, as a society, we can become kinder, not so judgemental, and more humble.Originally posted by supafatty:How sick can people get, laughing at others..
Most of the well to do out there who earned their wealth practise a virtue known as humility, something which I'm sad to say that many Singaporeans don't have.
If I see anyone ordering a plate of rice with curry sauce only, I will look away and just hope that better days come soon for that person (if his situation is such that it allows him only that).
It's bad enough that we feel any emotions inside, in an ideal world, we should just regard that person as anyone else, and that what he's doing is nothing more or nothing less than what everyone else is doing (satisfying basic need; hunger). Don't take it one level lower, by openly expressing your emotions for others and making them feel as if they are handicapped (beyond a physical sense) in any way.

Everywhere you turn, you see people carrying LV bags and wallets, not because the design is anything desirable but simply because it's a social stigma. What's the use, spend $1500 on a keychain, and end up taking a bus like everyone else, and thinking with that almighty keychain, superiority over others is confirmed, when everyone else has $1500 more in their pockets.

I don't know if any of you attend novena, but everyday, sits a disabled man across the overhead bridge. He sells tissue paper. If you give him money out of sympathy, he'll throw it out of his way. He's just earning a living. Bad enough he is disabled, so don't make him feel worse like he's begging for your help.
