laptop graphics card?

i'm playing nba live 06 with my laptop Dell Inspiron 700m.. when in main screen everything was fine but when it entered gameplay the background either turns completely black or keeps flashing.. the game states tat it requires GeForce 2 or greater but i'm not sure of my own com's graphics card.. do i need a better graphics card or something
any ideas thanks

my computer-->(right click)properties-->hardwaredevice manager-->display adapter...
see wat it reads..if its intel something something...den yours is not geforce liao...
since yours is laptop...i not sure how u gonna upgrade your card...u cannot really open the whole damn thing to change...think the best possible solution is to look for a graphical pc card to insert into you pcm slot... -
Dell like no geforce..At the most they give is ati radeon..But i got a feeling the 700m version is integrated..

the display adapter shows tat its Intel(R) graphics controller.. wad u mean by getting a graphical pc card to insert into my pcm slot..? wads a pc card..? pcm slot..?

Dell is lousy.......Bring ur laptop to simlim square or funan den ask the person to check 4 u wad graphic card u usin den if not tat graphic card ask him to sell u 1 lorz!

>> graphic chip that comes with it does not have sufficient memory
>> if graphic chip has sufficient memory, internal cooling not sufficient
>> graphic car/chip NOT upgradeable
>> limited RAM size support in all laptops
>> power supply can't cope higher performance graphics chips
>> entire laptop not scalable
Not a common practice to use laptops as gaming platform.
Gaming platforms are mid-size to large rigs with liquid or gas cooling for it's CPU, and multiple fans for ventilation. Power supply tops at 600w.
Therefore, the laptop is best used for schoolwork, office work, and popularly, as mobile email checker. -

To the threadstarter: You CANNOT upgrade your graphics card on that piece of crap dell. If you would have gotten a better laptop, like a Compaq or Acer, you would have had an Ati Radeon 9700-class GPU with dedicated RAM that can play most games just fine.

dell... horrible brand who haf no idea what the standard on the market is. Shared ram and video ram is an absolute nono these days yet the word shared can be seen almost everywhere on its computers

I'll be frank, my current dell may be really crappy in comparison to my former ibm in terms of reliability, sturdiness and quality.
but on the plus side, what this means is I get 5hrs of battery life at almost half the price of a "premium" notebook, and I don't get all that pre-installed junk or those "YOU MUST REINSTALL THIS" format functions. Which essentially means my notebook is as crap free as my desktop, unlike my previous IBM, which cost me $3500, and was slow as slow could be.
I still don't like the dell that much though .. 12.1" screen is abit big for me to be doing my work, and the internet .. I need to be mobile, move around every hour or so .. -

Trust me, in 3 to 6 moths time, your Ferrari Acer can be submitted to the local IT Museum. Try upgrading its motherboard then, if you think otherwise. You'd likely end up buying an entirely new one.
The very fact that laptops aren't fully scalable, limits its future usage for games. PCI-Express will soon replace AGPs, Windows Vista once released next year, you'll need at least 1.5Gb of RAM and a 256Mb graphic card to run it well.
A PC can be completely re-built, but yoiu can't re-build a laptop. You can however, re-purchase another.
Loses out on cost effectiveness as well.. -
a pc may be superior in terms of scalability but some mobile people still need games to make their day... so laptops are the only solution. By the way i want to upgrade my ACER aspire 1691 WLMi ram. currently 512mb. I don't know what ram modules to buy...
