  iron is a metal and will conduct electricity in solid state, and you cannot find iron in aqueous state as it doesn't dissolve in water.

  in old age cavemen learn to make and craft weapons and tools for battling and hunting.....the first were made from stones and wooden stacks, sharpened with a rock. later mankind evolve and discovered the natural iron ore...some smart ass learnt to melt the ore into molten (liquid) state at high temperatore fire stoves and the first sword and spears were made....very heavy and hefty but a sturdy weapon nevertheless. Creativity brought forth combination of metals in reasonable percentage called alloying and steel was created. swords and spears then became lighter and tougher against corrsion, wear and punishments from clashes of steel on steel.
  
  now you seldom see iron existing in products as itself but will usually combine with other alloys in the form of steel...different grades of steels. other alloys such as lead, brass and even steel bullet cartridges (very true in certain stages of battles iin WW2) are now employed in the manufacture of ammunition while polymers of hard plastic nature are used in the body and magazines of automatic and assault rifles.

  in molten and aqueeous state the ions are free to move and since they are charged they can conduct ekectricity LOL in solid state they are a crystal lattice the bonds all cannot move so cannot conduct ekectricity ROFL n00n wtf omg u suxor.
