Singaporean - I am of higher status because I speak English

Language experts rank Chinese, Russian and Arab as the most advanced languages in the world, and not English.
But singaporean, especially those in Shenton Way are extremely English conscious. They feel so damn proud that they can speak good English and so stupid of them to think that they are one above others for that.
If you are very proficient in both English and your native language, that's very good. But if you are very proficient in English and not your native language, that's not really something to be proud of.
Japanese with such poor English become the 2nd largest economy in the world. They show it with their capabilities. It is something singaporean should reflect on. -

It depends which side you look at. Computer language run faster in English than in arab and Russian. So, if they are so advance why they bein run so slow in computer?? -
In sg, the language we use in a business setting, be it for verbal, electronic or written, is predominately english. To a lesser extent mandarin and malay.
Therefore, having a better grasp of english allows us to be more proficient at our documentation, put ideas across in a more articulate manner and giving the overall impression of better better at our tasks than we actually are. Hence many working class ppl associate being english speaking with being "higher class" in the same manner school children associate "cool lingo" with the "cooler" kids.
Of course knowing english is NOT the same as being high status. -

When written in mandarin, it makes sense to those fluent in mandarin and it makes sense to them.
