  hi all,
  
  just curious. a lot of times when u go to job interviews, they ahdn you a form and ask u to list down your friends' names so that the HR dept can contact them to learn more about you and your character.
  
  most of the time, do these HR guys really call? or is it just for show, and that it's not really carried out?

  make sure the names that you put down will tell a nice story about you...not negative ones....

  Yes, some do check so be prepared. Especially government jobs.

  depends on what kind of job...if security clearance is needed....they confirm will call....examples would be DSTA and DSO.

  yeah..these people make ideal references as compared to poly classmates or army friends

  Dont u think it is unfair. What if they go call yr ex sec school teacher when u at the time one big Ah Beng and he say bad things about u but now u have changed to better person?

  but please remember before you put ur ex teacher/ex employer in your reference.. inform them about it as well.. coz not everyone will remember you for life.. imagin the surprise when they receive a call frm your future employer but they struggling to remember who you are and stuff hehe... it happened to my ex-lecturer before.. a person called her to asked her about her former student.. and unfortunately she forgot who.. but being a good lecturer she juz anyhow comment that she's a good student blah blah...
